The purpose of news item is to inform the readers about newsworthy or important event of the day.  Structure News Item : 1.) Main Event this part tells or contains news about key events or events which are usually written in summary.    2.) Backgorund event this part tells us about the elaboration. Recount text is a text which retells event or experiences in the past. Structure Recount Text : 1.) Orientation in this part gives the readers background information needed to understand the Text. Such as who was involved, where it happened & when it happened. 2.) Events in this part contain about chronological sequences. 3.) Reorientation it contain personal comment about the event. Language features : • using simple past tense. • using temporal sequence (first, after, then). • focus on specific participant (i, the writer). • using action verb (went, stayed ete).
